Fieseler Fi 156C Storch (Green)
The Fieseler Fi 156C Storch is legendary for its extreme STOL ability – thanks to fixed leading-edge slats and large slotted flaps it lands in about 18–20 m, takes off in under 50 m and can almost stand still in the air against a headwind. Black Horse recreates it at an impressive 2850 mm wingspan, built entirely from balsa and plywood and covered in printed heat-shrink film.
The model reproduces the compound wing with slats and slotted flaps, a GRP cowl, a pilot figure and an oil-damped main undercarriage with an aluminium tailwheel. The front fuselage is removable for easy access to the engine/battery. Supplied nearly ready to fly (ARTF) – all you need is a 30–35cc petrol engine. (The real Storch famously landed on the Gran Sasso plateau in 1943 to rescue Mussolini.)
