NASA Space Shuttle Discovery is a 1:96 scale model of the third of NASA's five reusable orbiters. The kit is built in three parts: the orbiter itself, a tensegrity stand and a deployable satellite in the form of the Hubble Space Telescope. The cargo bay opens in two halves, and the telescope has a deployable robotic arm, movable solar panels and an opening aperture door. Ailerons on the wings and an adjustable tail rudder allow flight manoeuvres to be simulated, and the landing gear retracts and extends. The stand is built as a tensegrity structure that holds the model suspended and so suggests weightlessness.

The kit includes an informational plaque with facts about the Discovery missions as well as officially NASA-licensed stickers. The parts are laser-cut in wooden boards and assemble without glue or tools, with step-by-step instructions in eleven languages and free spare parts on request. The model has neither a spring nor a rubber band drive; it is a static display with moving functions. With 315 parts and around six hours of assembly the article is rated Advanced, and the finished model measures 33.5 x 22.5 x 29 cm. The package measures 37.3 x 17 x 5 cm at 652 grams and the article ships four per carton.
